Head, Heart & Hands

Drawing from the work of Dennis P. Hollinger in his book, Head, Heart, & Hands, we agree that “…head, heart and hands all play a significant role in our Christian faith… [and that] each dimension plays a vital role in the expression of the others. Our minds, passion and actions interact in such a way that unless all three are present and nurturing each other, we are less than the people God created us to be.” (Hollinger, 9)

We recognize that we can best “love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength” by purposefully nurturing a balanced faith of head, heart, and hands. (Deut. 6:5; Mark 12:29-30; Matt. 22:37; Luke 10:27)

Therefore:

• We seek to nurture a faith of the head through Biblical studies and equipping for ministry.
• We seek to nurture a faith of the heart through spiritual disciplines and worship.
• We seek to nurture a faith of the hands through witness and acts of service.
• We seek to encourage one another and hold one another accountable to practice a balanced faith of head, heart, and hands in order that each of us might become spiritually mature in Jesus Christ.

The analogy of a faith of the head (mind), heart (passions), and hands (actions) provides a tangible, working framework for our vision of God in Action.
